Satu Mare County, in the far northwest of Romania at the border with Hungary and Ukraine, has its capital in Satu Mare municipality, a multicultural center with around 115,000 inhabitants. The county's economy makes use of its privileged geographical position through cross-border trade, processing industry, and diversified agriculture in the fertile Someș plain.
