In an electrical fault, speed matters, but getting the repair right matters more. A conscientious electrician doesn't simply replace the breaker that tripped: they find the cause, check the insulation of the affected circuit, inspect connections in the junction boxes and the board, and confirm the fault won't recur. Many seemingly minor incidents — a socket that runs warm, a switch that sparks — are early warnings of a loose connection that, left alone, leads to a fire. Until the tradesperson arrives, the safest step is to switch off the supply to the affected area at the board and stop using that circuit.
