Prahova County, at the foot of the Carpathians, has in Ploiești — with around 200,000 inhabitants — the traditional capital of the Romanian petroleum industry and an important economic center in proximity to Bucharest. Câmpina, Sinaia, Bușteni, and other localities in the Prahova Valley round out a county with an extremely diversified economy: oil and chemicals, mountain and ski tourism, agriculture, and a well-developed services sector. Easy access via the A3 and DN1 makes Prahova a strategic county in the national road infrastructure.
