Sink Installation in Slatina

About this service

Most problems that appear after a sink is fitted share the same origin: a seal overtightened, a trap installed at the wrong fall, or silicone applied to a damp surface. An experienced plumber tightens connections hand-tight plus a quarter turn with a spanner and no more, because a forced thread cracks the plastic nut and starts dripping weeks later. The trap is fitted with a continuous fall towards the stack, with no horizontal sections where residue collects, and the water seal must be maintained to block drain odours. Silicone sealing is done on a perfectly dry, degreased surface, otherwise the bead lifts within months and water reaches under the worktop, where it swells the chipboard beyond repair.

What to check before hiring a sink installation

Ask for the tap to be fitted to the sink before installation — it's far easier and seals better
Insist on sealing the cut edge of a chipboard worktop, otherwise it swells over time
Check the condition of the isolating valves and replace them now if they're old or seized
Don't soak the siliconed perimeter during the first 24 hours after installation
Ask for a pressure test and check under the sink yourself with dry paper before the tradesperson leaves
Choose a trap with access for clearing, to avoid full dismantling at the first blockage

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I fit a sink myself?

Technically it's possible for a straightforward replacement on existing connections. The risks lie in overtightening plastic parts, sealing incorrectly, and the trap's water seal. A slow leak under a worktop can destroy the cabinetry before it's noticed, and the repair far exceeds the cost of installation.

What warranty comes with the installation?

Labour is usually warranted for 6–24 months. The sink and tap carry the manufacturer's warranty, but conditional on correct installation. Ask for a receipt or invoice confirming the work was done by a professional — that's the document that matters in any claim to the manufacturer.

Can the sink be moved elsewhere in the kitchen?

Yes, but that becomes a plumbing alteration rather than a simple installation. It means extending the supply pipes and, more importantly, the waste, which must maintain a continuous fall to the stack. The cost rises significantly, and in flats the maximum distance is limited by the available fall.

How much does sink installation cost in Slatina?

For a kitchen sink fitted into a worktop, labour typically falls between 110 and 380 RON, depending on area and complexity. A bathroom basin costs 95–320 RON. If the old sink needs removing and disposing of, add 50–120 RON.

How long does installation take?

A sink fitted to existing connections takes 1–2 hours. If the worktop needs cutting, connections need moving, or an old sink is stuck fast with cured silicone, the job can reach 3–4 hours. Silicone curing time adds another 12–24 hours before heavy use.

Does the plumber bring the necessary materials?

They usually bring consumables — sanitary silicone, PTFE tape, flexible hoses, seals — either included or invoiced separately at modest values. The sink, tap, and trap are bought by the client. Confirm what the tradesperson brings upfront so the job isn't halted for a missing part.
