A properly rewired installation gives you peace of mind for the next 30–40 years. The electrician sizes each circuit to the load it feeds, uses copper conductors of 1.5 mm² for lighting, 2.5 mm² for sockets, and 4–6 mm² for heavy appliances, runs everything in conduit so a new cable can be pulled later, and separates circuits so a single fault doesn't leave the whole flat without power. Earthing is provided at every socket, and at completion the insulation resistance and the continuity of the protective conductor are measured, with the results recorded in writing.
